Akbar Mijit born 1964 in Kashgar, an ancient city on the Silk Road, studied and taught Fine Art in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region of China (XUAR). In 1998 he moved to Camden, London with his wife Sally.
Akbar's imagination is fired by his love of his people and their culture. Inspiration for his work comes from the vibrant colours and richness of the landscape of his homeland. His large oils on canvas speak of a culture that is rich. THE SWEET TEA HOUSE GALLERY was opened in 2003 by the internationally renowned Tibetan artist Gonkar Gyatso, and aims to bring together works from Asian artists.
