Program Assistant, East Asia
The National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a congressionally funded, private, nonprofit grant making organization that works to support freedom around the world, seeks a Program Assistant to work on its East Asia team. The position is based in Washington, D.C.

The Program Assistant will provide administrative support to the East Asia Programs staff.

Specific duties of the Program Assistant will include:

Assisting the Programs staff with general administrative duties;
Researching information about potential grantees and current political developments in the region;
Organizing meetings for visiting grantees, public events held by NED, and internal NED staff meetings;
Attending conferences, meetings and other events; and
Providing support for considering and monitoring grants to nongovernmental organizations working on democracy-building programs in East Asia. Responsibilities will include:
Communicating to applicants the schedules for proposal reviews to ensure adequate preparation time.
Supporting the grant proposal review process by maintaining and retrieving accurate information from proposal files and program logs.
Maintaining accurate budget tracking documents and updating grant requirement databases.
Applicants should have the following qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field;
Knowledge of political and social issues in the region;
Excellent written and oral English communication skills;
Administrative support experience;
Attention to detail and the ability to work with the team to meet workflow deadlines;
MS Office Skills.
Fluency in Vietnamese or Uyghur is a plus.
