Job Description:

Headwaters Inc. invites applicants for a position of a Research Scientist at our Lawrenceville, NJ location. The candidate should be able to plan, organize and conduct research experiments for use in his/her own work or for a project of a sponsoring company/institution. It is preferred to have an experience in polymer grafting with a focus on carbon nanomaterial coating and compound formation. Expertise in surface modification and polymer dispersion of nanoparticles into a variety of polymer matrices and solvents is desired.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develop research plan, design experiments and outlines research procedures for smooth functioning of the project.

2. Design, purchase and/or build test apparatus to support experimental test programs.

3. Analyze data and coordinate dissemenation of results and conclusions to colleagues and management.

4. Keep track of current state of technology through literature survey, attending conferences and peer networking.

5. Identify new market opportunities for existing technology platforms.

6. Trains research assistants and graduate students.

7. Plan schedule of research according to company's or contracting organization's timetable and establishes daily/weekly routines necessary to meet project deadline.
