Ghini is the first Uyghur, in Kashgar, who started learning English language after the Cultural Revolution. Therefore, he has a nickname as Gheni Engliz.
After his graduation, with a BA, of Kashgar Teachers' College in 1984, he had a job as a Lecturer of Uyhgur Literature in Kashgar Education College. In addition to his academic work in the college, he was famed with his English Language Courses. He got married to a middle school teacher and they had a child.
However, Gheni Engliz had not been able to stop telling the Chinese government's human right abuses in Kashgar to foreign traveller. The Chinese officials were not happy with his courses and open-mindedness to tourists. So they wanted him to be prosecuted.
In early 1990s, he was got caught and taken to Urumchi to be intorogated. He told the police that their behaviour of torturing was abuse of human right and illigal. The more he requests his right to be respected, the severer he was tortured. The police punch him and said "this is your right".
During the several years of detention without trial, he spent many hours in water, he was not allowed to in contact with his family, friends and relatives.He was physically and mentally disabled.
In the late 1990s, he was released with conditions and was given a cleaning work in his original institute. Refusing to in corporate with the officials, he lost his job again and went to a nearby county, Payziwat, where he organized a group of people bought a photocopier and started to write and copy materials to reveal the unfair policy of the government towards Uyghurs.
A few days later he was, together with his fellows, got caught again and disappeared since then. Some say he was given death sentence and others say he is in prison for life. No one knows what happenned to him. No one dare to ask for the officials what the charge against him was.
