Kyrgyz, Chinese Broadcasting Companies Sign Cooperation Accords

[Presenter] Close cooperation between the Kyrgyz State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company [STRBC] and the Xinjiang television and radio company began two years ago. Today the relations are at a new quality level. A Kyrgyz delegation led by the director-general of the STRBC, Kyyas Moldokasymov, has returned from China a few days ago. Nargiza Dzyu reports.

[Correspondent] The first meeting between representatives of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television from the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region [XUAR] and the Kyrgyz State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company was held in Urumqi during the visit. They clarified specific areas of future cooperation. The XUAR's television and radio company presented a Kyrgyz-language programme which will be rebroadcast to Kyrgyzstan on a daily basis.

Prospects for future cooperation were also discussed at a meeting between Kyyas Moldokasymov and the secretary of the party organization under the XUAR's television and radio company, Mr [name indistinct]. They discussed the topics of technical support, creative relations and an exchange of experience between staff of the television companies. The Kyrgyz and Chinese officials reached full understanding on all the issues. They signed an additional agreement on increasing the payment for showing Chinese programmes in Kyrgyzstan from 1 January 2007. The document was signed by Kyyas Moldokasymov and a deputy chairman of the XUAR television and radio company, Idris Qaysa [name phonetic].
The XUAR television and audio company made a commitment to provide the Kyrgyz STRBC with necessary equipment by the end of the year as part of the currently existing agreement. An agreement on cooperation in radio broadcasts will be amended next year.

At a meeting in Beijing with the heads of the Chinese Central Television [CCTV] and the Chinese National Radio, the Kyrgyz delegation discussed prospects for future cooperation. The meeting between the president of the CCTV, Zhao Huayaong, and the director- general of the Kyrgyz STRBC was held in an atmosphere of friendship and full understanding. The world-famous Chinese state-run television broadcasts on 16 channels and has correspondents in 60 countries of the world. The Kyrgyz and Chinese broadcasting companies reached an agreement on exchanging creative experience, retraining specialists and providing support to reporters in organizing the shooting of films during the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.

Another agreement on bilateral cooperation was reached at the end of a meeting of the Kyrgyz delegation with the director of the Chinese National Radio, Yang Bo.

A meeting with the deputy minister of the Chinese television and radio company, Ma Xuming [name phonetic], ended successfully. The deputy minister showed interest in developing relations and voiced his intention of providing further support for the Kyrgyz STRBC in future. In confirmation of this, he invited the Kyrgyz delegation to take part in an international [words indistinct due to a transmission break].
