It is learned that a new passport control is being implemented in Xinjiang. Police are knocking doors of Uyghur families to collect their official passports if they have any. Police fear Uyghur passport holders may travel to Mecca for pilgrimage.I was wondering whether such a rule is also to be applied to Hui Muslims in other parts of China and whether Beijing is aware of this new implimentation. Anyone is welcome to discuss here about this issue.

This is very riduclous. After a few years waiting period then the passports are hardly being issued to them. Do they over get compensate their money?

they "keep" their passports for a feww months till the "sensitive season" is over and only until then they can get their passports back. Absolutely rediculuos!

Ofcourse they do that, They even do not have to give their passport back withought any explanaition if they want to. Discuss about what?! Didn't you know Uighurs are being oppressed by the regime?

This "passport control" policy is only for Uyghurs and only in "Xinjiang". This is certainly not for Hui muslims and any other ethnic groups in any provinces.

This might be a policy which is against Chinese Law, but the authoroties are often first to abuse the laws.

This policy affecting many Uyghurs normal lives in "Xinjiang" and abroad.

Here's a link to the Chinese Passport Law which will be effective from 1 January 2007.

A petition has to be sent to Chinese President Hu Jin tao. The Law of his country is serously abused by the local govenment, universities, and business sectors in China.

The Chinese center government backed local governments are the evils who can do anything.

They preprare young girls to their bosses, they pass most of the bribe money the higher ranking officials, they or their family members can kill ordinary people and escape jail.

oh well, China has all different kind of laws similar to those of most democratic countries in the world. But the funny thing is that there is NO such a thing called RULE OF LAW. The central government and local authorities constantly and systematically break the Chinese constitution and other international agreements signed by China. Talking about law in China is like digging endless hole, you are never gonna get to the other side.
