PETALING JAYA: After collaborating with Star Publication (M) Berhad to present the successful Dances of Dynasties three years ago, Osim (M) Sdn Bhd is back again as joint presenter of the Mystical Steppes: Along The Silk Road.
A sponsorship presentation between its deputy group general manager Datin Linda Ngiam and Osim, represented by its director and chief executive officer Datuk Tay Sim Kim, was held here yesterday.
Tay said the two companies had had a very pleasant co-operation, adding that this time, both hoped to bring a unique performance from China’s Xinjiang region.
“We hope that through the show, the cultural interaction between the people of both countries can be enhanced,†he said.
The event, he said, was in line with Visit Malaysia Year 2007 and celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the country’s independence.
The show, which will be held at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from Jan 26 to 28, next year, is presented by the Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar Theatre Dance Troupe.
The Star and Osim will be doing their bit for the community as net proceeds from the show will go towards charity.
The 60-strong cast, which includes world-class dancers, technical crew, backstage staff and administrative personnel, will bring to the stage a kaleidoscope of music and dances from Xinjiang.
Xinjiang is located at the northwest region of China, bordering India, Mongolia and Russia.
It is a cultural melting pot with 47 ethnic groups and an interesting mix of culture, custom, and lifestyle. Most of its people are Muslims.
The official sponsors of the event are Astro (the official television station), StarRfm (official radio station), Cititel Kuala Lumpur (official hotel) and Utusan Malaysia, Nanyang Siang Pau and China Press (the official media partners).
