UAA/UHRP Hails Success of Rafto Prize Ceremony in Washington, DC

On January 26, 2005, the family of Uyghur prisoner of conscience, Ms. Rebiya Kadeer, accepted the 2004 Rafto Prize on her behalf at a ceremony on Capitol Hill. The prestigious award is given annually by the Rafto Foundation of Bergen, Norway, to exceptional individuals who promote the human rights of oppressed people in the tradition of the late humanitarian, Professor Thorolf Rafto.
