The Islamic world is treating us as if we were the foster child of the Muslim Umma, but if we look back on the history, without our ancestors, it is doubtful Islam would have survived to date. Islam was introduced first into the Turkic world in my hometown, the ancient city of Kashghar by the Kharakhanid King Sultan Sutuk Bughra Khan in 934 (google his name). As a result Islam was introduced into Central Asia, northern Afghanistan and northern Iran, and later expanded through Turkic migration to Turkey, Caucuses region, southern Russian and Eastern Europe and to a limited degree to the Indian subcontinent (Babur and Muhgals anyone?). It was Turkic peoples who protected Islam from the assault of Mongols in East and The Christian crusaders from the West in the middle ages. Can you imagine how the Islamic world look like today if there would be one if the Turks did not become Muslims? The tomb of the Sultan who laid the foundation for the Islam in the Turkic world lies in Artush, a town just outside of Kashgar, facing destruction along with the ancient city Kashgar itself and its very people. Kashgar is the most ancient Turkic city and the cradle of Turk civilization. The fisrt Turkic ditionary and encyclopedia Turki Tillar Divani was written here by Mehmud Kashgari in 11th Century. The first Royal Court conduct etiquette Kutatku Bilig, which set the legal framework for Turkic Royal courts through the centuries was also written in Kashgar in the 11th century. This oldest Turkic city in the world was destroyed in recent years to make room for the newly arriving Chinese settlers.

Now its Uyghur and other Turkic population is facing ethnic cleaning. And yet, the Islamic world including the Turkic world is largely remaining silent. It is highly doubtful the Muslim and Turk populations choose to remain silent if they had a choice. The problem is most Muslim nations live under dictatorships where the press and general public donít have the freedom to express their opinions freely. It is unfortunate, because their voice could save us from Chinese genocide, because China is more sensitive to criticism from the muslim countries than from western countries, because China considers Muslim countries as its natural ally on the international stage against the West. The recent protests in Indonesia and Bangladesh is apparently putting pressure on China. The Chinese embassy in Jakarta reached out to Indonesian communities to answer their demands.

But, most Muslim countries still remain dead silent. Actully Pakistan is the only country in the world that openly supported Chinaís oppression. Pakistan and many Muslim countries say they donít support Uyghurs on the ground of separatism. They should know that we are not seeking an inch of land from China, we are not separatists. We just want to recover what is stolen from us. East Turkistan Republic was established in 1933 and recognized by the super power of the day, the British Empire who set up a consulate in Kasghar long before many of the Muslim countries including Pakistan existed on the world map. The Chinese invaded our country with the help of the Chinese Muslims who back-stabbed us (for that reason we have separate mosques and donít intermarry with them to date). We kicked out the Chinese occupiers in 1944. But, the Chinese invaded our land again, this time with the help of its fellow communist state Soviets in 1949. we just want restore our Republic! The Chinese is fooling the world with the bogus claim that we have been an inseparable part of China since the ancient times. That is a lie! We have nothing in common with the Chinese. We look different in physical appearance, different language, different food, different clothes, different farming tools, different customs and culture and different religion. Because our traditional homelands are separated by a hostile dessert 1000 miles wide and almost impossible to cross in the ancient times. It was much easier to travel to Pakistan which was part of India then. So,there were much more cultural exchange with India than with China. The arrival of train and highway made it possible to travel between East Turkistan and China easily these days, paying the way for the massive Chinese settlement in the past 69 years. But, still, it takes 24 hours by train to cross the dessert.

Whether the Muslim world supports us or not, we will take back our country one day and end Chinaís ambition of ruling the world. Our ancestors introduced the agricultural and city civilizations into Central Asia for the first time. They created a alphabet and governing rules that widely adopted by the rulers of the Eurasian Steppes came after them including Ghenghiz Khan and his decedents and the Manchus who ruled China for 300 years until 1911. That alphabet is still visible in the ancient palaces in Beijing which is called The Forbidden City. Following the footsteps of our ancestors, we will be the first nation in that region to embrace and spread true democracy in Central Asia and beyond. Justice will prevail at the end of any long battle. And justice is on our side. I call the Islamic countries not to side with an oppressor who has ambition to be the overlord of every Muslim nation in the area and subject them to the same brutal oppression and genocide as we are being subjected to today to create living space its 1.4 billion people!

The Islamic world, especially the Turkic world owes us at least an acknowledgment of our pain and existential threat we are facing today! China is testing the waters with the camps. If the world remains silent, next will come the real physical genocide with guns. The Muslim world has the power to stop it on its track now with just words! Speak up, show them you are watching and you care!

We, as Muslims complain the West stereotypes us, but we are no different even when it comes to our own communities. Muslim activists in the middle east lied many times to cause devastating wars in Syria, Iraq and Libya, setting up Muslims against Muslims. Because of that some people suspicious that Uyghurs might be lying as well. It is an example of stereotyping, nothing else. Only the Muslim communities in the southeast Asia organized protests on grassroot level and officials spoke out against the abuses in our homeland on government level, but the Muslim heartlands in the Mideast and Central Asia are dead silent. Why is that? Because Muslims in those regions donít understand China, they are blinded by Chinaís trickery to get them on its side on international matters to use them against the West. In the Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia and Indonesia there are large Chinese populations and more interaction with China. They understand China better than other countries in the middle east. Also, there are more freedom of press in the Southeast Asian countries, they are able to publicize the Uyghur plight. In the Middle East, nothing goes against the wishes of the governments. Regardless whether you believe Uyghurs lie or not, one thing is certain: unlike in Syria, Iraq and Libya, the Uyghur Muslims in China are ruled by a communist state and kafirs. On that account alone, we deserve the benefit of doubt. Communists hate religion. The founder of the communist China, Mao Zedong said religion is the opium (unrefined heroine and drug of choice in China in early the 20th century) for the masses. Now his descendants say Islam is a virus and Uyghurs need to be cured of it. That is why they locked up more than a million Muslims to cure them. This has not come from anyone else other than China. They published articles in Chinese media many times saying that to justify the camps. It is no loner a secret. Wake up before it is too late!
