if the Uygurs living in Canada and the close vicinity (USA)

have not done their homework ,

by introducing their culture and history of civilization

to the Canadian public

despite the fact that they have been granted refuge and /or asylum

then we cannot blame the uninformed journalist

for our own failure....

on the other hand promoting Uygur cause

cannot be limited to shallow complaints on the political level.....

there must be more to show and talk about the Uygurs

granted the person in concern has chosen the metaphysical path
in his new homeland,

then he could have done more theological work,

informing the Canadian religion world

of the Uygur sufic traditions,

and translations of Buhari's Hadis works into the English language

briefly creating more interest in Canadian public opinion about the
beliefs of the Uygurs and their contribution to world history of religion.

By the way when I was living in Toronto in Canada in the 70 ies

I was surprised to find Toronto Sufic Society

with a library of all major Sufi literature translated from other parts of the world...

There is a lot of distance to cover

to introduce the Uygurs properly to the Western societies,

unfortunately we are unable to see any hints of
these kind of activities in Canada

now that the professional Uygurs are there,

we can rest assured.

at somew point you are right.

Uyghur cause has become only political concept to sell in world arena.
we are expecting too much from the uyghur organizations, not only political dimention to sell , at the same time but all in one package to promote.
at least cultural, historic and social prespective of this cause should be taken care by our scholars.
we have seen any thing close from our scholars, experts on this regard.
our musicians, historians, sociologists are in deep sleep.

you pinpointed very important prepective that has been ignored since long.
I hope your comment will be reminder of our social experts.

Some time ago they happily announced the funds received from the US

to train Uygurs to represent themselves in the global arena.

By the way it should not be us
expecting anything from the Uygur organizations,

but rather they themselves must set their goals clearly,

and leave not too much for the average Uygur to think about.

In mathematics there is something called

COMMON DENOMINATOR

The common denominator among the Uygur politically active people

in the past 50 years :

statistical knowledge

geographical location

natural resources

complaints about Chinese rule

........

in so called cultural activities :

Uygur music and folk dance

in the literary world :

almost any Uygur is poet
or has inclinations

These are just a few that come to mind.

If there is no autocriticism in matters related to the Uygurs

and if people are only expected to applaud some orators

it is a case where the blind people host the deaf ....

we will be only too happy if other aspects of being Uygur in world history

is brought forward to the attention of world nations...

not the usual whining...

WE WILL ONLY REAP WHAT WE SOW IN THE FUTURE

BY THE WAY THE LETTER TO THE SECRETARY GENERAL OF OIC
IN THE NAME OF UYGURS

WAS NO DIFFERENT IN CONTENT THEN THE PREVIOUS ONES
IN THE LAST 50 YEARS

The aspirants for the Uygur cause must be multi faceted in their approach
of promoting Uygur people in all levels and fields of co existence with the rest of the world.

wishing them well

cordially
