I feel a great support for the Uighurs and that it would be great for the Uighurs to fight the "han" Chinese that the government is populating the Uighur country with. The Uighurs would be so badly outnumbered and outgunned that it would be as hard as opposition in the US to beat the authorities governing the US. I wish them the best and I'm glad every time I see that the East Turkestan radical groups are making hits upon the Chinese and upon the infrastructure of the governing class there, but it would be really near imposible to show any real success other than in a reality of a general collapse in China.
The US, which is by far more MY ENEMY, would be most likely to feel enthusiastic about any kind of unrest inside of China or about the idea of groups fighting one against another inside China. And the groups inside China that the US favors are relatively insignificant. The american (worldwide) "government" does support Taipei Taiwan which is inside China and is currently all but an american commercial enclave inside China, and WOULD back their (american) global interests up in Taipei Taiwan against the Chinese provided that it had already finished in Iraq by that time. But other than that, the american (worldwide) "government" is putting all of its China eggs into the basket of the 'democratic reform opposition' which is largely US controlled, and than with the Tibetan independence activists. The american (worldwide) "government" (which includes Great Britain and international jewry and the rest of 'the Great Satan' crowd that go by a number of different names) DOES secretly want Tibetan independent; the complete seperation of Tibet from China, but they are against any headway being made by East Turkestan in struggling for independence from China.
america global america wants China to crush and oppress East Turkestan and the Uighurs because they are Muslim. And america considers that a threat. Any opportunity to reign in a Muslim group beneath the strong supervision of any entity not likely to tolerate radical Islamists is wholeheartedly supported and backed by the Global united states of america.
I think the Uighurs best bet is to rally around Islam.
Saddam Hussein is a good poster boy for what happens when you take the united states' interests as your own interests.
China will only advance the de-Uighur-ization of East Turkestan and more and more so each passing year.
But even with that much said, I'm more hopeful of one day seeing the united states of america made to back down as Communist China decides to take advantage of some opportune moment and storms in to retake Penghu, Quemoy, Matsu, and Taipei Taiwan away from america.
Unfortunately the Uighurs are left there to fend all for themselves. May God, Allah, Bless them in their war.

True true true. The Uyghur are destined to fight for their freedom alone. It is time to stop vainly expecting help from the US. The US doesn't support independence. If it ever did, it was for its own interest. Look at Native Americans, Hawai'ians, Alaskans, Samoans... US Colonialism is not over, it exists everywhere. I will not go into too much details about how the Americans ( oops, there was no people called Americans at that time:) ), stole the land - what is now United States - from Native Americans. And I don't need to explain how the Americans overthrew the Hawai'ian kingdom which existed long before the formation of the United States of America. Don't tell me the US government is treating these indegenous people much better than Chinese. Native Americans were put in RESERVATIONS to "protect" their culture, native Hawai'ians were given lands that are basically abondoned and barren, and of course, much more. What do you expect from a country that was built on a stolen land? The Uyghurs must unite and rely on themselves. That is the only way to achieve their independence.
