Hello everyone,

Witness Against Torture (www.witnesstorture.org) will be holding an event on Tuesday, January 18 as part of their activities to draw attention to the fact that Guantanamo has not been closed and people are still being indefinitely detained there. The January 18 event, which will take place from 3 to 5 pm, will focus on the Uyghurs who are detained or who have been detained in Guantanamo. They also want to hear from the local Uyghur community about Uyghur human rights and the Uyghur experience here in the U.S. One of their group members may speak about meeting with Uyghurs who were formerly detained in Guantanamo. Witness Against Torture encourages Uyghurs living in the D.C. area to attend. The address is:

St. Stephen and the Incarnation Episcopal Church
1525 Newton Street, NW at 16th Street

Thanks!
