The 14th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (May 31-June 18) concluded on Friday in Geneva, Switzerland. The Uyghurs and/or East Turkestan were discussed a number of times during the session. The European Union, United States, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, Reporters Without Borders, United Nations Watch, International Education Development, Society for Threatened Peoples, and Freedom House all discussed Uyghurs and/or East Turkestan at various points during the session. Check out the joint press release by the World Uyghur Congress, the International Uyghur Human Rights and Democracy Foundation, and the Uyghur American Association on the mentions of the Uyghurs' plight during the 14th session.
