The International Uyghur Human Rights and Democracy Foundation, a Washington, D.C.-based human rights organization that promotes human rights and democracy for the Uyghur people, especially for Uyghur women and children, is seeking an experienced, well-organized self-starter to fill its Researcher/Project Officer position. The Researcher is responsible for conducting research and documentation, managing daily research activities and carrying out timely, accurate production of research reports, project narrative reports and press releases. The Researcher is also responsible for office management and for daily project activities. Additionally, the Researcher is responsible for managing relations with other human rights organizations and acting as a liaison with media contacts. A successful applicant will possess extensive human rights research and documentation experience, as well as experience with non-profit grant management and fundraising experience.
Additional Qualifications:
*BA degree required (Masters is a
plus). Degree in political science,
international affairs, Chinese Studies,
Central Asian Studies, Human Rights
Studies or similar field preferred.
*4-5 years of work experience in the
human rights advocacy field (this
qualification may be waived
depending on applicant’s academic
and employment background.)
*Excellent writing/editing skills.
*Solid verbal and written
communication skills.
*Background in China and/or Central
Asia.
*Mandarin Chinese and/or Uyghur
language (or any Turkic language)
skills are a plus.
